    CurrentBody acquires Tria Beauty to enhance home beauty tech

    CurrentBody has announced the acquisition of Tria Beauty, a pioneering brand in at-home laser hair removal and skin rejuvenation technology. Founded in 2003, Tria Beauty originated from the vision of inventors of LightSheer™, a renowned in-clinic laser hair removal device. The goal was to transform this professional technology into a convenient, handheld device suitable for home use, allowing consumers to achieve permanent results without needing to visit a clinic.

    The development of Tria Beauty stemmed from a desire to miniaturise a 120-pound, $100,000 laser device into a user-friendly product for everyday consumers. This innovation established Tria Beauty as a leader in the at-home beauty technology sector.

    Laurence Newman, CEO of CurrentBody, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating, “Tria was a very early pioneer in at-home laser technology and went on to develop a brilliant at-home skin rejuvenating laser. To this day, a quick FDA search highlights that it arguably remains the only true home-use laser on the market, and that’s why it has been a key target for The Beauty Tech Group for some time.”

    The acquisition of Tria Beauty complements CurrentBody’s recent purchase of ZIIP Beauty, a California-based expert in microcurrent technology. Newman highlighted the positive feedback he has received from individuals involved in Tria’s journey, expressing excitement about this new chapter for the brand, which is well-established in beauty technology.

    Tria Beauty is now part of CurrentBody’s portfolio alongside CurrentBody Skin, known for its innovative LED mask, and ZIIP, founded by Melanie Simon. This acquisition solidifies CurrentBody’s position as a leading player in the home beauty tech market, with a diverse range of core technologies aimed at enhancing consumers’ at-home beauty routines.

    Tria Beauty’s reputation for creating effective at-home laser treatments has made it a sought-after brand for CurrentBody. The company aims to leverage Tria’s established technology and consumer trust to further expand its product offerings and market presence.

    The beauty technology industry has seen significant growth as consumers increasingly seek effective at-home solutions for skincare and beauty. CurrentBody’s acquisition of Tria Beauty aligns with this trend, allowing the company to offer a wider variety of innovative products designed for home use. The integration of Tria’s expertise in laser technology with CurrentBody’s existing product range is expected to yield exciting new developments in beauty tech.
